Chris Polian resurfaces in Atlanta

After the 2011 regular season ended, Colts owner Jim Irsay fired Vice Chairman Bill Polian and his son, G.M. Chris Polian.

Bill landed at ESPN, where he has done a surprisingly strong job of translating scout-speak into explanations that most casual fans can understand. Chris now has a job, too.

A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that Chris Polian has joined the Falcons’ personnel department. An announcement is expected on Monday.

The conclusion of the draft launches the typical hiring-firing season in NFL front offices, even though plenty of executives are dumped after generating a subpar final won-loss record. In Chris Polian’s case, his arrival doesn’t mean that a current member of the organization will be relieved of his duties.

Chris Polian rose through the ranks to become the Colts’ General Manager. His ascension was criticized by some within the organization as the product of nepotism.
