Because of injuries and ineffectiveness, it took the Steelers a while to find the right answer at kicker this season but Chris Boswell’s arrival four weeks into the year ended the searching.

Boswell made 29-of-32 field goals and 26-of-27 extra points after Shaun Suisham’s torn ACL and Josh Scobee’s four missed field goals in the first four games led the Steelers to bring him onto the roster. His play in the final five games of the season led the NFL to name him the AFC special teams player of the month.

Boswell made 12-of-14 field goal attempts and all 15 extra points he tried as the Steelers went 4-1 down the stretch to find their way into the playoffs.

It’s the first time that Boswell, who had stints with the Texans and Giants without playing in a regular season game before joining the Steelers, will take part in an NFL postseason game.
