The Chiefs on Tuesday announced the release of linebacker Demorrio Williams. Per Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com, the move saves $1.7 million in salary cap space.
Signed to a five-year, $16 million contract in March of 2008, Williams wound up starting only 22 games in Kansas City and fell out of the team’s linebacker rotation last year.
Turning 32 before the season, Williams will be greeted by a tepid market in unrestricted free agency.
