The Titans didn’t rule quarterback Jake Locker out during the week, but all the signs pointed toward another start for Charlie Whitehurst after a week of limited practices for Locker as he recovers from a thumb injury.
Those signs were pointing in the right direction. Locker is inactive for the second straight week and third time in the last four games, leaving Whitehurst to start against the Redskins.
Whitehurst has completed 42-of-72 passes for 604 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in his three appearances this season. He’ll be backed up by rookie Zach Mettenberger.
Running back Shonn Greene is also out for the Titans, which gives rookie Bishop Sankey a start in the backfield as the Titans try to win for the second week in a row.
