For the last 14 years, former fullback Charles Way helped Giants players think about the future.

Now he gets to work for all 32 teams.

The NFL announced that Way was named the head league’s player engagement department. He replaces Troy Vincent, who was promoted to executive vice president of football operations.

Way has spent the last 14 years in player development with the Giants, where he starred as a bruising runner.

The league’s release says Way will “work closely with NFL clubs, coaches and players to ensure that these league programs are both effective and fully utilized.”

Maybe he can start by encouraging the Redskins to use their programs. This week, former Redskins director of player development Phillip Daniels bemoaned his lack of support during his one year in that job, saying the team never gave him the budget or access necessary to make the job meaningful.
