The Seahawks have added an assistant coach who’ll have a little extra incentive to prepare for the first game of the 2014 regular season.
Chad Morton, a former NFL player who was let go by the Packers as an assistant special-teams coach after 2013, has been hired as assistant special-teams coach in Seattle.
Morton replaces John Glenn, who moves to quality control/defense on Pete Carroll’s staff. The Seahawks hired Morton after five years in Green Bay as an assistant.
The former NFL running back and return specialist spent seven seasons with the Saints, Jets, Redskins, and Giants. As a rookie in 2000, Morton tied the single-game playoff reception record with 13, in a division-round playoff loss to the Vikings.
The Seahawks also named Will Harriger offensive assistant and Chris Morgan assistant offensive line coach. Nate Carroll moves from offensive assistant to assistant receivers coach.
