There is a sliver of hope on the status of Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts III for Sunday’s game at Washington.
Shorts (hamstring) is doubtful for Week Two, and he was not practicing on Friday, according to John Oehser of Jaguars.com. However, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley indicated Shorts had not yet been declared out of Sunday’s game and would accompany the team to Washington, Oehser reported.
If Shorts can’t play, the Jaguars will again go with rookie Marqise Lee and Allen Hurns as their primary wideouts, with second-year pro Mike Brown and rookie Allen Robinson in reserve.
A fourth-year pro, Shorts (6-0, 202) caught a career-high 66 passes in 2013. He did not play in the Week One loss at Philadelphia. He was a limited practice participant on Wednesday, but he did not work out on Thursday.
