CBS, NFLN using hybrid lineup for Thursday Night Football pregame

Brown

The new approach to Thursday Night Football will include a new approach to the pregame show on Thursday nights.

According to Richard Deitsch of SI.com, the pregame show for all Thursday night games this year will be hosted by James Brown of CBS. He’ll be joined by Bill Cowher of CBS, and Deion Sanders of NFL Network.

The pregame will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET. For the games to be simulcast on CBS and NFLN, the pregame show will be shown on both networks. For the NFLN-only Thursday night games, the pregame show will only be shown on NFLN.

For all Thursday nights, NFLN will have a 90-minute pre-pregame show starting at 6:00 p.m. ET, according to Deitsch.

Sanders previously worked for CBS, but he left The NFL Today a decade ago after reportedly demanding that his $1 million salary be doubled. Sanders thereafter unretired and spent two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.

The Thursday night package could be at CBS, in theory, for an even shorter time. The league and CBS have inked only a one-year contract for Thursday night games. Other networks could get involved for 2015 and beyond.
