C.J. Gardner-Johnson is the NFC defensive player of the week

Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson had a much better time in Week 17 than he did in Week 16.

Gardner-Johnson was ejected from the Eagles’ loss to the Commanders in Week 16, but he stuck around for all of their Week 17 matchup with the Cowboys. Gardner-Johnson started the Eagles’ scoring with a 69-yard interception return for a touchdown and then added another pick to help the Eagles to a 41-7 win.

The victory secured the Eagles the NFC East title and Gardner-Johnson’s performance led to him being named the NFC defensive player of the week.

Gardner-Johnson has 59 tackles, six interceptions, 12 passes defensed, and a forced fumble over his 16 appearances this season.
