Could the Buccaneers be turning back to rookie wide receiver Solomon Patton as their kickoff and punt returner?

Tampa Bay has signed Patton from the Cardinals’ practice squad, the Buccaneers’ website reported Tuesday morning.

Patton was the Buccaneers’ returner for the first six games, averaging 23.1 yards on kickoffs and 11.2 yards on punts. However, the Buccaneers waived him on October 21, and he signed with Arizona’s practice squad.

Tailback Bobby Rainey returned kickoffs and punts in the Buccaneers’ loss to Cincinnati on Sunday.

In a corresponding roster move, the Buccaneers waived veteran tight end D.J. Williams, perhaps a signal the club will be getting back some reinforcements at the position after Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Brandon Myers and Luke Stocker were all inactive on Sunday.
