Jordan Shipley is getting another chance with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Shipley, the wide receiver who played two preseason games for the Bucs after he was waived by the Bengals in August but failed to make the 53-man roster, signed with Tampa Bay today.
The 26-year-old Shipley was a third-round pick of the Bengals in 2010 and had an impressive rookie season, catching 52 passes for 600 yards and three touchdowns. But he tore his ACL and MCL in Week Two of his second season and didn’t appear to be back to full speed in Bengals camp this year. If he is at full speed now, he has the talent to be a valuable addition to the Bucs’ passing game, especially while slot receiver Preston Parker is dealing with a foot injury.
To make room for Shipley on the 53-man roster, the Bucs released guard Derek Hardman. The team also announced that it signed defensive end D.J. Bryant to the practice squad and released linebacker J.K. Schaffer from the practice squad.
