The shortcomings of the Panthers offense were a leading reason why head coach Frank Reich was fired on Monday and a particular focus of those shortcomings has been the play of first overall pick Bryce Young.
Young has been overshadowed by Texans rookie and second overall pick C.J. Stroud and he was asked at a Wednesday press conference if he felt Reich let him and the rest of the offense down.
“We all take ownership, especially offensively,” Young said. “It’s all of us. We all look in the mirror. There’s all things we could do better. We all wanted to do better. It’s a collective unit, there’s no finger-pointing from players, coaches, nothing. We all could have been better. We have to improve.”
Young was asked if he thought Reich should have gotten more time than the 11 games he had in the job. He said it wasn’t for him or other players to make those calls, but their efforts will determine whether Reich’s ultimate successor is any more successful in the role.
