Broncos turn to Dan Koppen again

A year ago when center J.D. Walton broke his ankle, the Broncos turned to Dan Koppen.

They did so again Thursday, signing the veteran center according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun.

The move was hardly unexpected, as the free agent was just sitting there when it was learned Walton needed another round of surgery on his ankle, and could miss the entire season.

Koppen started 12 games last year after Walton’s injury (and 120 before that for the Patriots), so there’s a built-in comfort level with him, and it seems Peyton Manning adjusted to him fairly well last year.
