Brandon Marshall’s best quarterback isn’t who you’d think it would be

Earlier this month, a list of Jets receiver Brandon Marshall’s best teammates didn’t include quarterback Jay Cutler, a two-time teammate of Marshall in Denver and Chicago.

Now, Cutler failed to top a far more narrow list.

Via Joe Nguyen of the Denver Post, Marshall identified Kyle Orton as the best quarterback Marshall has ever played with, despite Orton’s “bad body.”

Making Marshall’s assessment more surprising is the fact that his career overlapped with Orton’s only once, with the 2009 Broncos. The next year, Marshall had been traded to Miami.

Marshall generated 1,120 receiving yards with 101 catches and 10 touchdowns during his lone season with Orton. During Marshall’s career, he caught a lot more passes for a lot more yardage and a lot more touchdowns from Cutler.

This year, neither Jay Cutler nor Kyle Orton will be walking through the door of the Jets facility, so Brandon had better make the most of Geno Smith or whoever/whomever/whatever ends up with the starting job.
