The Bills are making a change at wide receiver for the final three weeks of the regular season.

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that the team has signed Deonte Thompson off of the Ravens practice squad. There hasn’t been a corresponding move announced, but Mike Williams was inactive with a calf injury and hasn’t been playing when healthy so he could be headed off the active roster now that the Bills would have eight wideouts among their 53 players.

The Ravens thought enough of Thompson to pay him more than twice the normal rate for practice squad players and he played 13 games with them in 2011 and 2012, but there wasn’t any room for him this season. Thompson has flashed a lot of speed during his appearances with the Ravens, but his 15 NFL catches have resulted in just 147 yards.

Thompson also has some experience as a kick returner, so there are a couple of places where the Bills might take a look at him before 2014 draws to a close.
