The man who was one determined to take pro football out of New Orleans is now being regarded as the man who is saving basketball there.

On the same night that Jets quarterback Tim Tebow was booed by the crowd at Yankee Stadium, Saints owner Tom Benson received a far more positive reception, two days after buying the Hornets for $338 million.

According to John Reid of the New Orleans Times Picayune, Benson heard cheers as he walked to his seat. When he was introduced between the first and second quarter of the game at the New Orleans Arena, Benson received a standing ovation.

Not bad for a guy who, as the legend goes, had to be forced by the league office to keep the Saints in town after the hurricane.
