The Law Firm isn’t ready to rest his case just yet.
Running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis has been out of the NFL since the Bengals dropped him before the start of last season, but the veteran hasn’t decided to call it a career. He’s recovered from hip surgery performed last October and said that the “phone’s been ringing” as he tries to find the right team to join in an attempt to get back on the field.
“I’m optimistic I’ll get that call,” Green-Ellis said, via ESPN.com. “Obviously, each team that’s in the market is in the market for a certain type of back. But I know somebody out there has a need for what I can do. More than anything, I’m excited to get back out there and hit somebody.”
Green-Ellis, who topped 1,000 yards twice in his six NFL seasons, is likely to be of interest to teams looking for a little more brute force in their backfield. He feels the year off left him “fresh, rejuvenated and actually faster” than when he was last in uniform, so now he just needs someone who wants to see if they can benefit from that change in circumstances.
