The Bengals have their entire draft class under contract.
The final piece of the puzzle came on Thursday with the announcement that tackle Cedric Ogbuehi has signed his rookie deal with the team. As the 21st pick of the first round, Ogbuehi is signed for four years and the Bengals have a fifth-year option on his contract that must be exercised after Ogbuehi’s third NFL season.
Ogbuehi is recovering from a torn ACL he suffered at Texas A&M last season, which likely means the Bengals will bring him along cautiously since they have last year’s left and right tackles -- Andrew Whitworth and Andre Smith, respectively -- and second-round pick Jake Fisher on hand. Geoff Hobson of the Bengals website reports that the rookie is likely to start the year on the PUP list, which would leave him ineligible to play for at least the first six weeks of the season.
Both Whitworth and Smith are entering the final years of their contracts and Whitworth could kick inside to guard, so the delayed start to his NFL career won’t hurt him too much in the long run.
