Bengals rookie defensive tackle Andrew Billings will undergo an MRI after he left Wednesday’s joint practice with the Vikings on a cart.
Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com wrote that the team has “cautious optimism” that the MRI will reveal something besides a season-ending injury and that the hope is a “cartilage tear, at most.”
Trainers looked at Billings’ lower leg and knee before calling for the cart. He got tangled up with another player during a pass rush drill.
A fourth-round pick, Billings is expected to be an immediate contributor for the Bengals, who last week lost first-round cornerback William Jackson III to a torn pectoral.
