Jamaal Anderson’s short tenure with the Chicago Bears has come to an end.

Anderson, the veteran defensive end who signed with the Bears last month, has been released, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The transaction represents yet another disappointment for a player who was once viewed as so promising a pass rusher that the Falcons took him with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft. Anderson has a grand total of 7.5 sacks in his entire NFL career.

Last year Anderson got on the field for just two games with the Bengals, and with the Bears now giving up on him, at age 27 he may be just about out of chances to make it in the NFL.
