Austin Davis continues to impress as Rams’ offense starts fast

It hasn’t been a good season in St. Louis, but there is one bright spot: Austin Davis is emerging as a promising young quarterback.

Davis, who went from third string to first string after Sam Bradford was lost for the season and Shaun Hill proved ineffective and injury prone, is playing good football for the Rams. Tonight against the 49ers, he engineered a fine first series that culminated in a Benjamin Cunningham one-yard touchdown run to give St. Louis a 7-0 lead.

Davis was 4-for-4 for 56 yards on the drive, completing passes to four different receivers. And the Rams were effective on the ground, twice using Tavon Austin at running back and getting 10 yards from him on runs up the middle.

Are the Rams going anywhere this year? Probably not. But they could be going places in the future, with Davis -- not Bradford -- leading the way.
