Arch Manning throws for 305 yards and 4 touchdowns against overmatched Texas State

Texas quarterback Arch Manning, the betting favorite to be the first overall pick in the 2027 NFL draft, had an easy start to his season today.

Against an overmatched Texas State team, Manning completed 20 of 27 passes for 305 yards, with four touchdowns and one interception, before exiting in the third quarter while Texas led 42-7.

Manning and Texas have one of the most talented teams in college football, while Texas State is a mid-level team in the Sun Belt Conference. Manning passed his first test of the season, but it was an easy test.

That will change next week, when Manning’s Longhorns face No. 1 Ohio State in one of the biggest games of this college football season. Last year, Manning struggled as Texas lost 14-7 at Ohio State. This year, the game is at Texas, Manning is a more experienced and seasoned quarterback, and it’s shaping up to potentially be a huge opportunity for Manning to show that he’s the best quarterback in college football.
