Although 49ers offensive tackle Anthony Davis’s decision to walk away at age 25 has been termed a retirement, Davis says he’s not done playing football for good.
Davis wrote on Twitter that he does expect to play “in a year or so,” once he has allowed himself some time to recover from injuries. Last year Davis missed nine games with multiple injuries, including a concussion that had lingering symptoms.
Davis remains under contract to the 49ers, and he and 49ers owner Jed York exchanged pleasantries on Twitter after his announcement. So Davis apparently has no hard feelings toward the team, and still plans to play in San Francisco again. Just not this year.
