When he walks out onto Lincoln Financial Field a week from tonight, Eagles coach Andy Reid knows he’s going to hear the loudest boos of his coaching career. But he says he can live with that.
Reid said at his press conference today that he believes he and his team have let the fans down this season, but there’s no chance that he’ll resign as the head coach.
“I know we’re letting the fans down and the city down -- I completely understand that,” Reid said. “There are no excuses.”
But when asked if he would ever quit, Reid insisted that he wouldn’t do that.
“I’m telling the team we need to continue to battle,” Reid said. “Giving up would a copout. . . . We’ll keep fighting.”
Reid, who is currently on the first six-game losing streak of his coaching career, said he’s not going to worry about anything outside his own locker room.
“You control what you can control,” Reid said. “For me, that’s getting us better as a football team.”
Reid likely has only six more games of trying to get better before his tenure in Philadelphia comes to an end.
