The barrage of injuries that the Lions have suffered over the last couple of months won’t help them make it to the Super Bowl in February, but one of those injured players vows to be on the field if they can navigate their way to New Orleans.
Defensive end Aidan Hutchinson is a guest on an upcoming episode of The Squeeze podcast and host Taylor Lautner shared a clip on NFL Network that featured Hutchinson discussing his recovery from a fractured fibula and tibia. Hutchinson said that he’s telling his teammates that he will be back to play in the Super Bowl if the Lions can get there.
“I’m on track for my goal of returning for the Super Bowl,” Hutchinson said. “And so I keep telling all the boys when I see them in the facility, I’m like, ‘You guys just gotta get there, and I promise you, I’m gonna be back.’ And I tell people that and my Mom was like, I remember we were talking yesterday, and she’s like, ‘But Aidan, what if you don’t get back, what if you cant?’ And I was like, ‘There’s no other way.’”
Running back David Montgomery and defensive tackle Alim McNeill were lost for the season in Week 15 and the crowded injury list is looking like the biggest argument against the Lions being able to find their way through the NFC come January, but they could have some help for the final mile if they can find their way through.
