Keep the following remarks from Texans tight end Owen Daniels in mind the next time you hear someone feels “great” and “100%" in their first season back from ACL surgery.
“I tried to sound like I was feeling great when people asked me last season before I hurt my hamstring, but honestly, last year was a struggle for sure,” Daniels told Pro Football Weekly.
Daniels said it took him a while to gain confidence in his knee, and then a hamstring injury set him back. He looked something close to his pre-injury self late in the year when he grabbed 22 passes for 271 yards and two scores in the final four games.
The Texans rewarded Daniels with a four-year contract before the lockout started. A fully recovered Daniels could make a big difference for a Texans offense that sometimes struggled to find a consistent complement to Andre Johnson last year.
“I’m having my best offseason as a pro, which is kind of weird since it comes with this situation — but I’m looking forward to getting into camp and playing football with the guys again,” Daniels said.
