Philadelphia fans aren’t always the most polite, but given a chance to moon them, Aaron Rodgers chose modesty instead.
The Packers quarterback, who ducked into a small tent on the sidelines to get treated for a hamstring injury last night, said it was mostly because he didn’t feel like dropping his pants in front of the entire stadium and television cameras rather than trying to be secretive about his injury.
“I just didn’t want to be getting taped up on the television,” Rodgers said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. “But obviously, when I walked out and saw the camera right in my face, I knew there was probably some sort of mini story growing. But no, I had to drop my drawers a little bit to get taped up and just wanted to do [that] in the privacy of that tent.”
Decorum thus maintained, Rodgers went out and threw two touchdown passes and helped the Packers break a four-game losing streak with a 27-13 win over the Eagles. But the tent remained a source of mystery and wonder for many who saw him go in.
“Maybe he just had to go,” center Corey Linsley said (though if that were the case, he could have just used a Gatorade cup).
Rodgers said he didn’t think the issue he came out of the tent with would be a lingering one, heading into Sunday’s game against the Texans.
“I was a little tight in the first half for some reason,” Rodgers said. “I don’t know if it was sitting around the last two weeks, these night games, when you do a lot of resting. I’ll be good to go, though.”
And he’ll be fully dressed and appropriately private when he gets there.
