The Jets’ loss to the Raiders in Week 8 dropped them to 2-6 and it left their record since hiring head coach Aaron Glenn at an unimpressive 5-20.
Five of their six losses this season have come by one score, including all three on their current losing streak, and all of those results have contributed to increased speculation about how much longer Glenn is going to be in the job. During a Monday press conference, Glenn was asked how concerned he is that the Jets might decide to make a change.
“There’s so much that I think about when it comes to us improving each week that that really doesn’t come across my mind to be honest with you,” Glenn said, via a transcript from the team. “I understand how this league is, I understand what this business is about, but my first job is each week of improving this team and that’s the only thing that I think about.”
Glenn did make it clear that he understands there need to be concrete signs of improvement soon.
“Absolutely. I mean, that’s what this is,” Glenn said. “It’s a bottom-line business and we have to win, but we still have nine games left, so we still have an opportunity to win nine games.”
That opportunity starts in Kansas City this week and missing out on it will only turn the heat under Glenn’s seat higher.
