Aaron Wilson of Scout.com and the Baltimore Sun reports that the Carolina Panthers have acquired safety Colin Jones from the San Francisco 49ers via trade.
Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee has the compensation, and reports the 49ers received a seventh-round pick.
Although Jones is not much of a defensive contributor, he runs really fast in a straight line and plays physically on special teams. Last season with Carolina, Jones had eight special teams tackles.
