49ers move Mykel Williams to reserve/PUP and Christian Kirk to IR during cut to 53-man roster

Defensive end Mykel Williams will not play in at least the first four games of the 49ers’ season.

Williams will remain on the physically unable to perform list as he continues to recover from last season’s torn ACL. The team also confirmed that running back Isaac Guerendo will stay on the PUP list into the regular season.

Wide receiver Christian Kirk and offensive lineman Austen Pleasants are on injured reserve with designations to return. Offensive linemen Brett Toth and Nick Zakelj are also on injured reserve, but won’t be eligible to return.

The 49ers waived or released defensive backs Eli Apple, Ashtyn Davis, Darrell Luter, Patrick McMorris, Jakob Robinson, and Jalen Stroman; defensive linemen Evan Anderson, Quinton Bell, Bryson Eason, Viliami Fehoko, Jah Joyner, Ogbo Okoronkwo, and Sebastian Valdez; running backs Khalil Herbert and Sincere McCormick; wide receivers Wesley Grimes, KhaDarel Hodge, Trenton Irwin, Will Pauling, and Malik Turner; linebackers Jalen Graham, Deion Jones, and Larry Worth; offensive linemen Isaac Alarcon, Robert Jones, Doug Kramer, Drake Nugent, and Brandon Parker; punter Corliss Waitman; long snapper Jon Weeks; tight ends Khalil Dinkins and Hayden Rucci; and quarterback Adrian Martinez.
