The 49ers have filed seven of their eight practice squad spots, keeping guys who were in camp with them already.

The list includes running back Jewel Hampton, wide receiver Chuck Jacobs, offensive tackle Carter Bykowski, guard Patrick Omameh, nose tackle Mike Purcell, cornerback Darryl Morris and safety Michael Thomas.

Hampton spent the last five weeks of last season on their active roster, and led the team in preseason rushing. He’ll get plenty of work in the next few weeks, with running back/returner LaMichael James out with a knee injury.
