    Steelers released P Pressley Harvin.
Harvin played in 15 games for the Steelers last season and has spent the last three seasons with the team. The former seventh-round draft pick averaged 39.1 net yards per punt last season, which ranked amongst the lowest in the league, and had a PFF grade of 50.1. Far from the best punter the league has to offer, teams are constantly looking to create punter competition in training camp. We’d expect Harvin to join a team at some point this offseason and compete for a job. In addition to Harvin, the Steelers also released offensive tackle Chukwuma Okorafor.
  • PIT Kicker #9
Chris Boswell was ruled out of the Steelers’ Week 8 game against the Browns after being evaluated for a concussion.
Boswell took a direct snap on a fake field goal at the ten yard line and after holding the ball while rolling to the sideline, took a massive head-to-head shot from a Browns defender as he got rid of the ball. There was no penalty called on the play. Steelers punter Pressley Harvin will take over field goal kicking duties with Boswell sidelined.

  • Steelers signed seventh-round P Pressley Harvin to a four-year contract.
Harvin averaged 44.7 yards per kick at Georgia Tech. The first-team All-American and Ray Guy Award winner was the top punter in college last year, placing 18-of-45 punts inside the 20-yard line. Harvin has potential to be an impact punter for the Steelers, who can save $850K from moving on from Jordan Berry.

  • Steelers selected Georgia Tech P Pressley Harvin with the No. 254 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Harvin (5’11/263) was a heralded recruit from Sumter, SC who was considered the fourth best punter prospect from the 2017 class. He was named the teams starting punter as a true freshman averaging 44.1 yards per punt and landing 16 kicks inside the 20-yard line en route to receiving third-team All-ACC recognition. He went on to average 41.3 YPP in 2018 and 44.8 YPP in 2019 while unleashing 80 punts due to the conversion from former option-style HC Paul Johnson to more traditional HC Geoff Collins. It all came together for Harvin in 2020, as he led the nation with a 48 yards per punt average while placing 18-of-45 punts inside the 20-yard line. His standout performance earned him first-team AP All-American status in addition to winning the coveted Ray Guy Award. Harvin has all the tools to be an impact punter at the NFL level.
