Eagles running back Saquon Barkley said during the week that he didn’t expect to get booed by Giants fans when he returned to MetLife Stadium on Sunday, but it didn’t take long for him to realize that was the wrong take.

Kenneth Gainwell ran 13 times for 56 yards in the Eagles’ Week 7 win over the Giants.

Gainwell averaged a solid 4.3 YPC on the day and also caught one pass for 11 additional yards. The Eagles’ RB2 turned in his best outing of the season in this one after entering the day with just eight carries all season. Gainwell is the only running back seeing notable work behind Saquon Barkley, but he won’t have any fantasy upside as long as Barkley is healthy.

DeVonta Smith caught 1-of-2 targets for negative two yards in the Eagles’ Week 7 win over the Giants.

It was a forgettable outing for Smith, to say the least. His two-target outing comes on a day Jalen Hurts attempted just 14 passes, as the Eagles combined to run the ball 45 times in a game they controlled throughout. Smith will hope to bounce back in Week 8 against the Bengals.

A.J. Brown caught 5-of-5 targets for 89 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles’ Week 7 win over the Giants.

The Eagles leaned heavily on the ground game on Sunday, but Brown still managed to put together a solid outing despite Jalen Hurts attempting just 14 passes. Four of Browns’ five receptions came in the first-half, with his biggest coming on a 41-yard touchdown. He’s only played in three games this season, but Brown is sitting on a solid 16-324-3 line. He’ll be a high-end WR2 in Week 8 against the Bengals.

Saquon Barkley ran 17 times for 177 yards and one touchdown in the Eagles’ Week 7 win over the Giants.

Barkely took his former team to task all afternoon. He averaged an impressive 10.4 YPC in his return to the Meadowlands, thanks in part to runs of 55, 38, and 41 yards. He saw two opportunities for a one-yard touchdown get vultured by Jalen Hurts, but did punch in a three-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Barkley also caught two passes for 11 yards, but as has been the case for much of the season, it was his effort in the ground game that proved to be the difference maker in the win. Barkley will be a high-end RB1 in Week 8 when he and the Eagles visit the Bengals.

Jalen Hurts completed 10-of-14 passes for 114 yards and one touchdown in the Eagles’ 28-3, Week 7 win over the Giants.

Hurts also ran for 22 yards and picked up two scores on his signature “Tush Push” play. It wasn’t a dominant performance for Hurts, who took four sacks in this one, but he did toss a 41-yard score to A.J. Brown in the second quarter to give the Eagles a 14-0 lead before halftime. While he didn’t stuff the box score, Hurts and the Eagles leaned heavily on Saquon Barkley in his return to the Meadowlands. We’d expect Hurts to make a few more plays with his arm in Week 8 when the Eagles visit the Bengals.
Dallas Goedert

Eagles declared QB Tanner McKee, CB Eli Ricks, OL Darian Kinnard, OG Trevor Keegan, TE Dallas Goedert, and DT Byron Young inactive for Week 7 against the Giants.

Goedert was ruled out by the team on Friday, opening the door for Grant Calcaterra to make the start. Calcaterra caught all four of his targets for 67 yards in last week’s win over the Browns and could have some appeal as a TE2 for teams in need of an option.

Eagles placed LT Jordan Mailata (hamstring) on injured reserve.

It was reported earlier this that Mailata was likely to miss a couple of games because of the hamstring issue. He will now miss at least four contests while on injured reserve. Pro Football Focus has Mailata graded as a top-five tackle this season. He is credited with one sack allowed. Swing tackle Fred Johnson, who has already played some right tackle for Philly this year, could take his spot in the lineup. Former left tackle and current right guard Mekhi Becton is also an option.

Darius Slay Jr. (knee) is questionable for Week 7 against the Giants.

Slay practiced in full on Friday so he appears more likely to play than truly questionable. The Eagles will need their No. 1 cornerback on-field against the Giants’ rising wide receiver corps.

Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (hamstring) ruled out for Week 7 against the Giants.

Losing the highly efficient Goedert for an NFC East rivalry game is tough but the Eagles have the offensive personnel to remain the favorite. Hopefully, the veteran tight end can return for the Eagles’ Week 8 game against the Bengals. The team receives no breaks moving forward, with the Week 5 bye week now in the rearview.

Eagles beat reporter Jeff McLane reports “Sydney Brown is tracking toward being activated off IR” for Week 7 against the Giants.

The promising young player brings added depth to the Eagles’ secondary. He will likely be eased back into things as he returns from his 2023 ACL tear but hopefully, Brown is able to meaningfully contribute down the stretch.
