    Falcons released TE J.J. Arcega-Whiteside.
Arcega-Whiteside was trying to catch on with the Falcons as a tight end, but ended up being left off the final 53-man roster. As a former wide receiver who is entering his age-26 season, Arcega-Whiteside is quickly running out of opportunities to stick on an NFL roster. In addition to Arcega-Whiteside, the Falcons also released/waived S Micah Abernathy, CB Cornell Armstrong, WR Slade Bolden, CB Breon Borders, CB Natrone Brooks, S Cliff Chattman, DL Carlos Davis, S Lukas Denis, TE Tucker Fisk, LB Frank Ginda, CB Darren Hall, DL Demone Harris, WR Keilahn Harris, OL Jonotthan Harrison, WR Penny Hart, TE Parker Hesse, DL Timmy Horne, RB Godwin Igwebuike, LB Mike Jones Jr. DL LeCale London, WR Zay Malone, OL Michal Menet, DL Caeveon Patton, FB Clint Ratkovich, OL Trevor Reid, WR Matthew Sexton, OL Justin Shaffer, LB Andre Smith Jr., LB Kemoko Turay, OL Tyler Vrabel, RB Carlos Washington Jr., and OL Barry Wesley.
  • Wide Receiver #19
Falcons signed WR Penny Hart, formerly of the Seahawks.
Hart entered the league as a UDFA with the Colts in 2019. He was waived before the start of the season and then joined Seattle’s practice squad. Hart bounced between being waived, re-joining the Seahawks’ practice squad, and getting called up to the active roster over the next three years. He now has 11 career receptions for 82 yards. Hart will need to find a role on special teams to stick with the Falcons’ roster.

  • Wide Receiver #19
Seahawks declared WR Penny Hart, CB Artie Burns, CB Xavier Crawford, LB Joshua Onujiogu, LB Vi Jones, G Phil Haynes, and RB Tony Jones Jr. inactive for the Wild Card round against the 49ers.
With Hart out and Marquise Goodwin on injured reserve, Cade Johnson is in line to serve as the team’s No. 3 wideout. In Week 18 against the Jets, Johnson caught both of his targets for 21 yards while running a route on 45 percent of Geno Smith’s drop backs.

  • Wide Receiver #19
Seahawks declared WR Penny Hart, CB Artie Burns, RB Tony Jones, S Teez Tabor, DE Myles Adams, and OG Jake Curhan inactive for Week 12 against the Raiders.
Despite missing Dee Eskridge because of a hand injury, the Seahawks are keeping Hart on the sidelines. Marquise Goodwin will take the field on three-receiver sets.

  • Wide Receiver #19
    Seahawks re-signed WR Penny Hart.
Hart, an exclusive rights free agent, will return on a one-year deal for the league minimum. The 25-year-old appeared in 17 games for Seattle last year, playing 45% of snaps on special teams.

  • MIA Wide Receiver #82
D’Wayne Eskridge (concussion) was sidelined for Wednesday’s practice.
Penny Hart also suffered a head injury in the Seahawks’ Week 1 win over the Colts but practiced Wednesday, indicating that he’ll be able to suit up this week. Eskridge saw a target and two carries in his debut. He split WR3 snaps with Freddie Swain, who should hold down the bulk of that role until Eskridge is healthy. The Seahawks used multiple tight ends frequently in their opener which should keep Swain out of the fantasy conversation for now.

  • MIA Wide Receiver #82
Seahawks WR D’Wayne Eskridge is in the league’s concussion protocol.
The rookie wideout had three touches in his regular season debut against the Colts, including a 13-yard rushing attempt on a sweep. Eskeridge left the game with a brain injury and is now in jeopardy of missing Seattle’s Week 2 game against the Titans. Seahawks WR Penny Hart is also in the NFL’s concussion protocol after suffering a brain injury against Indianapolis.

  • LAR Tight End #86
Seahawks placed TE Colby Parkinson (foot) on injured reserve.
Parkinson will miss at least three games while recovering from a broken foot. His absence leaves Will Dissly as the primary backup to Gerald Everett. The Seahawks signed receiver Penny Hart from their practice squad in a corresponding move. Hart caught one pass across eight appearances as a rookie last year.

  • Wide Receiver #19
    Seahawks waived WR Penny Hart.
The slot receiver had drawn praise from Seattle head coach Pete Carroll, who in June said Hart “had a spectacular couple of weeks” at Seahawks OTAs. Hart had one reception on 62 offensive snaps while bouncing between the practice squad and active roster last year. In waiving Hart, it looks like the Seahawks will head into the regular season with four wideouts. Like every player waived or released on Tuesday, Hart has a chance to return to the practice squad.

  • Wide Receiver #19
Pete Carroll said WR Penny Hart “had a spectacular couple of weeks’’ in OTAs and minicamp.
Hart, a second-year UDFA from Georgia State, is primarily a special teams player for the Seahawks. He notched one reception on 62 offensive snaps while bouncing between the practice squad and active roster last year. However, with David Moore walking in free agency and second-round rookie D’Wayne Eskridge being held out of practice with a toe injury, there are first-team reps up for grab in Seattle. The Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta noted that Hart made a handful of impressive catches in minicamp including a one-handed snag on a touchdown pass from Russell Wilson. Hart has a slim but realistic path to becoming the third receiver in Seattle. He’s a player worth monitoring once training camp gets underway.
