Saints CB Paulson Adebo has been diagnosed with a broken right leg.
What was originally deemed a knee injury was actually a broken femur. It should be a season-ender for the 25-year-old, who is undergoing surgery Thursday evening. It’s a brutal blow for a 2021 third-rounder in the final year of his rookie deal. It leaves the Saints short-handed at corner, and clouds Adebo’s looming free agency. Perhaps he could end up back in New Orleans on something of a “prove it” deal.
  • NO Defensive Back #29
Saints CB Paulson Adebo was forced from New Orleans’ Week 7 game against the Broncos with a right knee injury and will not return.
Adebo went down in ugly second quarter fashion. He was fitted for an air cast before being carted directly to the Saints’ X-ray room. He was immediately ruled out instead of earning a “questionable” tag. He’s another injured starter for a team absolutely beset by injury.
  • NO Defensive Back #29
Saints CB Paulson Adebo (hamstring) returned to practice Wednesday.
Adebo has been sidelined for the past two games because of the hamstring issue. He did not practice in any capacity last week. A limited session to open this week is a step in the right direction. We will know more about his status on Friday.
  • NO Guard #51
Saints RG Cesar Ruiz (concussion) will not play in Week 4 against the Bucs.
Also out for the Saints are cornerback Paulson Adebo and safety Jordan Howden. Even down multiple starting members of their secondary, the Saints will still be a tough matchup for Baker Mayfield.
  • NO EDGE #98
Saints signed No. 28 overall pick DE Payton Turner to a four-year contract.
The Saints also announced the signings of the rest of their draft class. Turner moved to the outside of the defensive line in his junior season at Houston so it may take him some time to continue adjusting as he hits the pro level. However, he has all of the physical tools necessary to exceed with the Saints and should be an impactful player from Week 1. To create the necessary cap space, New Orleans restructured Marshon Lattimore’s contract. Lattimore was on the fifth-year option of his rookie deal and is currently in extension talks with the team.

  • NO Cornerback #29
Saints selected Stanford CB Paulson Adebo with the No. 76 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Adebo (6'1/192) is the definition of a ballhawk. In two seasons as a starter, Adebo recorded a whopping 27 passes defended, in addition to eight interceptions. No matter the coverage assignment, Adebo has a knack for getting his hand on passes once they enter his vicinity. To no surprise, Adebo netted first-team All Pac-12 in both seasons, making him one of the more decorated DBs in this class. Adebo did choose to opt out of the 2020 season, however, so he missed out on potentially putting up three seasons of outrageous production. On film, Adebo is not a true burner, but he has smooth enough hips and has nice click-and-close ability when working back to the ball. If Adebo can prove he has the muscle to contend with NFL WRs, he is set to fit in any number of schemes. Adebo is also an energetic, willing tackler. Adebo shows some shades of a discount version of Atlanta Falcons CB A.J. Terrell.

  • NO Cornerback #29
Stanford CB Paulson Adebo recorded an unofficial 4.42 40-yard dash time at Thursday’s pro day workout.
Adebo (6'1/190) ran back-to-back 40-yard dashes of 4.42 and 4.51 seconds, which are considered very strong times for the Stanford cornerback. He bolstered his strong 40-times with a vertical jump of 36.5 inches and 18 reps on the bench press, both credible marks for his position. The former All Pac-12 selection started Stanford’s first nine games last year, accounting for 33 total tackles, four interceptions and 10 pass breakups. Adebo will have a shot at being a Day 2 selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.

  • NO Cornerback #29
Stanford redshirt junior CB Paulson Adebo is opting out of the 2020 season and entering the NFL Draft.
Adebo (6'1"/190) suffered an undisclosed season-ending injury in 2019 after delivering a standout 2018. In light of his previous serious injury it makes sense that he would want to protect himself from another such ailment. The former All Pac-12 selection started Stanford’s first nine games last year, accounting for 33 total tackles, four interceptions and 10 pass breakups. With a return to a strong combine showing, Adebo will have a shot at being a Day 1 selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.

  • NO Cornerback #29
Stanford redshirt junior CB Paulson Adebo allowed an average of 1.24 yards per coverage snap in 2019 according to Pro Football Focus’ Anthony Treash.
“A season-ending injury after Week 11 didn’t help Adebo’s draft stock, either,” Treash wrote. “If Adebo’s 2020 is close to what we saw in 2018, he’ll be right back into early-round consideration.” Adebo (6'1/190) began the 2019 season as a cornerback that more than a few analysts believed could be an early round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. But after excelling in 2018 he struggled last season, and ultimately decided that it would be best to return to The Farm for the 2020 campaign. A bounce back season could put Adebo in the Day 1 conversation for the 2021 NFL Draft.

  • NO Cornerback #29
Stanford redshirt sophomore DB Paulson Adebo announced Friday that he will return to school for the 2020 season.
Adebo (6'1/190) was a first team all-conference selection (coaches) this season, but with regard to the NFL the 2019 campaign wasn’t a particularly impressive one for him. With that being the case, as more than a few draft analysts believed that the redshirt sophomore had fallen out of the first round, it’s understandable that he would decide to return to school for another season. Adebo started Stanford’s first nine games before suffering a season-ending injury (which remains undisclosed), accounting for 33 total tackles, four interceptions and 10 pass breakups. With a return to form in 2020, Adebo will have a shot at being a Day 1 selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.
