    Steelers released RB Patrick Cobbs.
The former Patriot is a candidate to make the team’s practice squad.
  • NO Running Back
Saints released RB Patrick Cobbs (undisclosed) with an injury settlement.
Cobbs landed on injured reserve during cut-down weekend after appearing in 51 games for the Dolphins the past four seasons. He’ll look to sign somewhere as a special teamer, though he does have 32 career receptions.
  • NO Running Back
Dolphins RB/KR Patrick Cobbs (ACL tear) has already been running on his surgically repaired knee for months now.
Cobbs tore the ACL in October and underwent surgery quickly. He likely won’t have full strength in his left leg until we get closer to Week 1, but his roster spot appears safe. The coaching staff favorite could provide deep running back depth if Ronnie Brown’s Lisfranc fracture acts up.
  • NYJ Running Back
Jesse Chatman ran for 19 yards on eight carries in Thursday night’s preseason victory. He also caught five passes for 43 yards.
Lorenzo Booker didn’t have a touch. Patrick Cobbs caught a pair of passes for a net gain of nine and rushed four times for 27 yards, including a seven-yard TD. While Chatman seems to have a hold on the No. 2 job currently, Cobbs should only make the team if Cam Cameron carries four backs.
  • TEN Running Back
Fox 26 in Houston reports that the Dolphins have claimed former Texans RB Samkon Gado off waivers.
The Dolphins were looking to add depth following the season-ending injury to Ronnie Brown. Gado has minimal fantasy value, but he could wind up challenging Patrick Cobbs for a backup role. The news hasn’t been reported anywhere else.
  • FA Running Back #30
Ronnie Brown will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL in Sunday’s blowout loss to New England.
An MRI Brown underwent Monday confirmed the tear. Brown was the best running back in the NFL this season (fantasy and reality), so it’s a crushing loss. Owners should wait for further confirmation before dropping him. Brown will be replaced by Jesse Chatman in the starting lineup, with Patrick Cobbs as his backup, and Lorenzo Booker being active finally.
  • NO Running Back
Patrick Cobbs should take over as Miami’s backup running back moving forward.
Cobbs has bounced around between New England, Pittsburgh, and Miami and has often impressed in preseason work. He should remain ahead of third-round pick Lorenzo Booker, but is only worth a look in very deep fantasy leagues.
  • NO Running Back
Patrick Cobbs rushed for 44 yards on 15 carries and caught five balls for 39 yards as the Dolphins dropped their preseason finale Thursday.
Cobbs did what he could to make a bid for the fourth-string tailback job in Miami, but ultimately has a good shot to be cut because Lorenzo Booker (7-11, 1-5) was a third-round pick. Still, there’s no doubt Cobbs has the physical skills and there’s a chance the Dolphins keep four backs on the roster.
  • NO Running Back
Dolphins declared RB Patrick Cobbs, QB Casey Bramlet, T Julius Wilson, G Ike Ndukwe, T Anthony Alabi, DE Rob Ninkovich, NT Keith Traylor, and DT Paul Soliai inactive for Week 17.
Most of the Dolphins’ injured players are on injured reserve by this point in the year. Cobbs will be a restricted free agent after the season.
  • NO Running Back
Patrick Cobbs rushed four times for 19 yards in Week 8.
Cobbs is the current backup and the only other Dolphins RB besides Chatman to have a carry in the game. Samkon Gado will be with the team next week when they return to the states and could work his way into the mix.
