The importance of June first cuts has lessened in recent years as teams have managed their cap better and have a “June first exemption” to use before the actual date. But we’ll still probably see a handful of decent vets released this week.

The Purdue alum will replace J.D. Runnels on the roster. The Bears’ FBs will most likely be ‘Femi Ayanbadejo and Jason McKie when the season starts.

The Bears knew about the suspension before signing Ayanbadejo, so this shouldn’t affect his standing as a special teams player upon his return.

He’s more of a pass-catcher, and the Cardinals want a true lead blocker.

The versatile but aging fullback was ineligible for the first four games due to a suspension, and wasn’t deemed valuable enough to clear a spot for.

His brother Brendan is also on the team and is a good special teams player. ‘Femi has a good chance to make the team on a squad that values fullback play.

The team’s starting fullback had 34 catches in 2005. As fullbacks go, he’s not known for his blocking.
