San Francisco 49ers:
Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers (7-3) currently lead the NFC West after Sunday’s 27-14 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The second-year quarterback finished with a perfect passer rating in the win, completing 21-of-25 passes for 333 yards and 3 touchdowns. It was the first time in 34 years that a 49ers’ quarterback finished with a 158.3 passer rating in a full game. The last two men to do so were Steve Young and Joe Montana in 1989.
Purdy struggled during the 49ers’ 3-game losing streak (Weeks 6-8) but credits his strong performance over the last two games to the team’s Week 9 bye, where he was able to mentally reset.
“I had to get back to, man, we’ve got to go take it,” Purdy said. “We’ve got to go earn it every single game. It doesn’t matter who we’re playing, it’s the NFL. Anything can happen on any Sunday. And so that’s the chip that I was talking about. And so getting back to that and then proving myself every drive, every play that I can be the guy for this team and I have to earn it every single week at practice, in meetings, whatever it may be. So, that’s the mindset of what I was talking about and yeah, definitely more in tune to being detailed and stuff the last couple weeks and finding that chip again.”

Seattle Seahawks:
Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks (6-4) sit one place behind the 49ers in the NFC West after Sunday’s 17-16 loss to the LA Rams. Seattle had a chance to win the game with a 55-yard field goal at the end of regulation, but they weren’t able to capitalize on the opportunity after Jason Myers’ kick went wide.
Smith left the game late in the third quarter with an elbow injury but returned in the final drive. The 33-year-old who signed a 3-year, $75 million contract ahead of this season, finished 22-of-34 for 233 yards with a touchdown. As of now, Smith’s injured elbow is sore, but he’s going to “keep pushing” to play Thursday.
