Former Miami junior DL Nesta Silvera has committed to Arizona State.
Silvera (6'2/306) announced in early January that he would be entering the transfer portal, and is now on his way to Arizona State for 2022. Silvera is reportedly already set to enroll in classes for the 2022 spring semester at Arizona State, getting a head start with the team to start the year. In four seasons at Miami, Silvera has played a key role for the Hurricane over the last two years, playing on over 400 snaps in both 2020 and 2021 according to Pro Football Focus, while registering over 30 tackles and double-digit quarterback pressures in each of those two seasons. The former four-star defensive tackle from the 2018 recruiting class should make an immediate impact on an Arizona State defense that ranked 13th in yards allowed per game (327.8) and 22nd in points allowed per game at 20.8.

Miami junior DL Nesta Silvera has entered the transfer portal.
Silvera (6'2"/306) has racked up 105 total tackles (16 for loss) and two sacks in his four year career with the Hurricanes, with most of the that coming in the last two seasons. Silvera was a high four-star coming out of high-school, but foot surgery in 2019 may have cost him some of the career he could have had with the Hurricanes. He’ll look to finish his collegiate career elsewhere.

Miami sophomore DT Nesta Silvera has sustained a right foot injury and will undergo surgery later this week.
At this early juncture -- Miami just announced the injury and surgery -- it is not known whether Silvera might be forced to miss the whole of the coming season. His recovery timetable will be set after surgery. After signing with the Hurricanes as a four-star recruit in the 2018 class, Silvera went on to play in 10 games while recording 13 tackles during his first year on campus. Chigozie Nnoruka and Jonathan Ford are two candidates to potentially see more heavy high-quality reps in August camp with Silvera -- a likely starter for the fall -- now out indefinitely.

Miami received a verbal commitment from four-star 2018 DT Nesta Silvera.
Scout.com’s Corey Bender passes along a rundown of Silvera’s game, noting that the 6-foot-1, 197-pounder “shows good ball awareness and does a nice job of keeping his eyes up” and adding that "[h]e shows good change of direction when reading and reacting to the ball, but also closes on the ball carrier with impressive acceleration.” While Scout views him as a three-star prospect, over at Rivals another sparkle is tossed his way to give him four-star status. Miami is off to a hot recruiting start for the 2018 cycle and has a legitimate shot at landing a top-10 class by the time National Signing Day rolls around next February.

In the final release of the Rivals250 for the 2018 cycle, Miami four-star 2018 verbal DT commit Nesta Silvera went from unranked to No. 121.
Now that’s a rise in the rankings. Silvera rocked it at American Heritage High in Florida during his senior campaign and kept his foot on the gas pedal for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl practice week earlier this month. The 6-foot-2, 300-pounder has been committed to Miami since last February. He’s showcased an impressive acceleration and ability to change direction during his high school career.

Miami signed four-star 2018 DT Nesta Silvera.
Silvera (6'2/300) was considered a potential flip candidate to watch, but he ultimately decided to stick it out with Miami to conclude what’s been a commitment with the program of about a year. He showed tremendous development during his senior season at American Heritage High in Florida. Among his stronger attributes, Silvera is adept at changing direction while on the run and offers a nice quick burst of acceleration off the snap.
