Texans declared TE Pharaoh Brown (shoulder) inactive for Week 4 against the Chargers.
Houston will only have O.J. Howard and Jordan Akins (an elevation) active at tight end with TE Brevin Jordan (ankle) also ruled out on Friday. WR Tyler Johnson is active for the first time this season. Also inactive for the Texans are OL Austin Deculus (ankle), CB Isaac Yiadom (thigh), LB Jake Hansen, DL Michael Dwumfour, and DL Demone Harris.

  • CLE Defensive Tackle #62
Rutgers redshirt senior DL Michael Dwumfour declared for the 2021 NFL Draft.
Dwumfour (6'2/282) played his first four years with Michigan, appearing in 33 games during his time in Ann Arbor while working as a rotational cog in Don Brown’s defense. Michigan HC Jim Harbaugh remains a fan of the former three-star recruit, saying last that he was "[p]raying and pulling for him” and noting that he believed that a change of scenery could help Dwumfour in an immense way. The Scotch Plains, NJ native was a consistent presence in the RU lineup, racking up 23 tackles, one PDU and 0.5 sacks for the Scarlet Knights. He projects as a UDFA for NFL Draft purposes.

  • CLE Defensive Tackle #62
Former Michigan redshirt senior DT Michael Dwumfour committed to transfer to Rutgers as a graduate.
Dwumfour (6'2/282) entered into the transfer portal earlier this month and now looks to have his future home lined up. He’ll officially be moving on after he graduates from Michigan in the spring. Dwumfour played in 33 games during his time in Ann Arbor while working as a rotational cog in Don Brown’s defense. Michigan HC Jim Harbaugh remains a fan of the former three-star recruit, saying last week that he was "[p]raying and pulling for him” and noting that he believed that a change of scenery could help Dwumfour in an immense way. Transferring over to Rutgers, the Scotch Plains, New Jersey, native makes for a nice flier of an addition for new HC Greg Schiano. Transfers don’t always pan out -- sometimes, same guy no matter the scenery around him -- but enough dart throws can help sway the prospects of an aimless program. We saw this very notably with Illinois in 2019.
  • CLE Defensive Tackle #62
Michigan redshirt junior DL Michael Dwumfour has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports.
Dwumfour (6'2/282) was a rotational DL for the Wovlerines over the past two seasons. In 2019, however, Dwumfour was in and out of the active lineup with various injuries, including an undisclosed procedure that held him out of the team’s bowl game. Dwumfour recorded 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks over the past two years. Dwumfour has one year of eligibility remaining and will be able to play immediately as a grad transfer.
  • CLE Defensive Tackle #62
Michigan senior DT Michael Dwumfour (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Wednesday’s Vrbo Citrus Bowl vs. Alabama.
Dwumfour (6'2/282) did not make the trip with the team to Orlando, as a medical procedure prohibited him from traveling. The senior defensive tackle had to deal with a shoulder issue for much of the regular season, but he still appeared in ten games. Dwumfour accounted for nine total tackles, and his absence leaves the Wolverines quite thin at defensive tackle going into the bowl game.
  • CLE Defensive Tackle #62
Michigan senior DT Michael Dwumfour (foot) has not participated in any of UM’s seven spring practices to date.
Dwumfour (6'2/285) is rehabbing from a torn plantar fascia in his foot sustained prior to bowl action. While he tweeted out on Wednesday that he would be returning to the fold “very soon,” UM HC Jim Harbaugh was not putting on an optimistic face during his press conference on the day, noting that the injury was might be more serious than previously believed. There is no concrete timetable for Dwumfour’s return at this juncture. He appeared in all 13 of Michigan’s games last season, starting two of them.
  • CLE Defensive Tackle #62
Michigan senior DT Michael Dwumfour tweets that he’ll return “very soon.”
A report earlier this morning surfaced that Dwumfour “could” miss extensive time, but it never felt credible and Dwumfour (6'2/285) cleared that up. The senior has a minor foot injury, but he’ll be back well ahead of the 2019 season. Dwumfour is expected to be on the NFL radar in 2020.
  • CLE Defensive Tackle #62
Michigan senior DT Michael Dwumfour is currently out of spring practices with a foot injury.
It’s not believed to be a serious injury. The 6-foot-2, 285-pound defender should be back for the start of the season and help plug up the middle for the Wolverines in 2019.
  • CLE Defensive Tackle #62
Michigan HC Jim Harbaugh said that junior DT Michael Dwumfour is the “No. 1 guy” who put himself in position for heavy playing time with his performance in spring practice.
Harbaugh wasn’t the only one talking up Dwumfour during the spring, either. Team anchor and fellow defensive lineman Rashan Gary referred to the 6-foot-2, 300-pound as “ridiculous” and comparing his first step to that of now-former teammate Maurice Hurst. Wolverines DL coach Greg Mattison, meanwhile, waxed poetic in early April that Dwumfour was “having one of the best springs I can remember.” While he’s played sparingly early in his career with UM -- just five career tackles in two active seasons -- it’s very much looking like he’ll be a leading candidate to help replace the aforementioned Hurst in August camp.
