  • PIT Linebacker
Coach Romeo Crennel expects to rotate Matt Stewart, Willie McGinest, and Kamerion Wimbley at outside linebacker.
A rotation would derail any hopes of getting consistent IDP numbers from the three mentioned.
  • PIT Linebacker
LB Matt Stewart injured his knee in the first quarter yesterday and did not return.
''The loss of Stewart hurt us a lot,’' Chaun Thompson said. He’s a great player. I hope he gets well soon. I’m sure it’s nothing too bad.’'
  • PIT Linebacker
Browns linebacker Matt Stewart suffered an MCL injury in last week’s game. He’s ''week to week’’.
Surgery isn’t likely but Stewart should be out for some time. Kenard Lang will pick up snaps in his place.
  • PIT Linebacker
LB Matt Stewart (knee) practiced in pads yesterday and is listed as questionable.
“He hasn’t played for a while so I don’t know that you just want to throw him in there,” coach Romeo Crennel said. “It seems logical that if he can go, we’ll rotate him in.”
  • PIT Linebacker
Matt Stewart will not start, but should get more snaps rotating in behind Kenard Lang.
Stewart returned last Sunday from a right knee injury. The fifth-year linebacker has just one tackle in four games.
  • PIT Linebacker
Browns signed linebacker Matt Stewart, formerly of the Falcons, to a three-year contract.
Cleveland continues to make solid, quiet additions. Stewart was second on the Falcons with 89 tackles and can play both inside and outside linebacker in Cleveland’s new 3-4. He’ll have a good chance to start.
  • PIT Linebacker
Browns LB Matt Stewart had surgery to repair a torn muscle in his left shoulder and will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
Losing Willie McGinest for at least six weeks and Stewart for potentially the entire season is a big blow to the Browns’ defense, especially from a depth standpoint. Coach Romeo Crennel says Chaun Thompson will move to the outside, with Antwan Peek joining the first-team defense.
  • FA Linebacker
Cardinals released LBs Brandon Moore, Matt Stewart, Chris Harrington, and Joe Tafoya, DB Michael Adams, and DLs Jason Banks and Keilen Dykes.
Moore was beat out by Monty Beisel and undrafted rookie Ali Highsmith. Harrington is a developmental guy. He was a sixth-rounder in April.
  • PIT Linebacker
Cardinals signed OLB Matt Stewart, formerly of the Browns, to a one-year contract.
Stewart spent 2007 on I.R. after undergoing shoulder surgery. Arizona is quite deep at outside linebacker with Chike Okeafor, Travis LaBoy, Bertrand Berry and Clark Haggans in front of Stewart, so he may struggle to last long.
  • PIT Linebacker
The Cardinals will reportedly host free agent OLB Matt Stewart this week.
Stewart missed all of last season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn muscle in his shoulder. It happened in August, so he should be healthy now.
