Broncos OL Matt McChesney is expected to retire after a golf cart rolled over his surgically repaired ankle.
McChesney got out of the cart to approach his ball, and a trailing cart drove by and clipped the same ankle that he injured last preseason. The Broncos want him to rehab and compete for a job in camp, but McChesney apparently has had enough after being riddled by injuries throughout his career. Thanks to another freak injury to Ryan Clady, the Broncos’ line is getting thin.
  • Broncos G/C Matt McChesney has formally retired from football.
The converted defensive lineman is calling it quits after a golf cart rolled on his surgically repaired ankle last week. McChesney’s career ends after four games played. He made three tackles on the Jets’ defensive line in 2005.
  • The Jets have moved former DL Matt McChesney to offense.
His chances of making the team would increase if disgruntled Pete Kendall is released or traded. McChesney is now being tried at offensive guard.
  • Broncos placed OG Matt McChesney on injured reserve.
The team is working out an injury settlement with the converted defensive tackle.
  • FA Wide Receiver #83
Jets waived WR David Ball, G Jacob Bender, WR Larry Brackins, CB Rudy Burgess, OL Stanley Daniels, OL Kyle DeVan, OL Nate Garner, S James Ihedigbo, DE Bryan Mattison, G Matt McChesney, and LB Blair Phillips.
Ball was prolific at New Hampshire, but may be too slow to run with the big boys. It appears David Clowney (collarbone) will stay on the roster.
  • Dolphins placed G Matt McChesney (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
McChesney, a converted defensive tackle, showed promise in practice during his one-week stay on the roster. He’ll battle to make the team in 2009.
  • Dolphins signed G Matt McChesney off their practice squad and waived G Evan Mathis.
A former third-round pick, Mathis was getting blown off the ball in games and practices. McChesney, a former Jet, is a converted defensive lineman.
  • Broncos signed OG Matt McChesney and C Dustin Fry to reserve/futures contracts.
Local hero McChesney is a converted defensive tackle who spent time on the practice squad this season. Fry is good athlete with impressive strength, but that hasn’t translated at the NFL level.
  • Matt McChesney has been lining up as the Broncos’ first-team center during pre-draft workouts.
McChesney is a converted defensive lineman. The Broncos smartly moved on quickly, drafting J.D. Walton out of Baylor to likely take over immediately at the pivot position. Second-rounder Zane Beadles also could end up there.
