Looks like Arthur Blank and Rich McKay are back from Africa. Milner will play in an H-back role as a rookie if he can make the team.

It’s not like Crumpler has been doing much lately, but there was some hope he’d find more success with Byron Leftwich behind center than he did with Joey Harrington at the helm. Crumpler was unable to practice at all during the week, so his status going forward is also uncertain. Rookie Martrez Milner and Dwayne Blakley will likely share tight end duties at New Orleans.

The Falcons fourth-round pick this year, Milner was primarily a special teams player, but started two games and had nine receptions.

The team didn’t reveal the extent of the rookie’s injury, but it doesn’t sound good. Milner is third string behind Alge Crumpler and Dwayne Blakley.

Milner took a big helmet-to-knee hit after making a catch and the sixth-round pick was carted to the locker room just before halftime.

New York will go with George Wrighster at the bottom of its tight end depth chart instead of Milner, a Bobby Petrino draft pick for Atlanta in 2007.

The Jets just signed him two weeks ago, so they obviously weren’t impressed with his work in OTAs.

Ex-basketball player J’Nathan Bullock probably hasn’t been tearing it up at minicamps. Milner won’t solve New York’s weakness at blocking tight end.

Waters lost out to undrafted free agent Jonathan Casillas. Arrington is an exciting practice player when healthy, but missed most of camp with a Grade 2 tear of his hamstring. He has practice squad eligibility left.

Milner, 25, is a catch-first tight end and won’t fill the hole created by Dan Campbell’s year-ending injury. Buck Ortega is more likely to make the club.
