    Jets signed OG Marquis Hayes.
Terms weren’t disclosed. Hayes also spent time with the Commanders and Cardinals through three NFL seasons, though he has never taken a regular season snap.
  • ARI Tight End #85
Cardinals signed second-round TE Trey McBride to a four-year contract.
The team also announced the signings of CB Christian Matthew and OL Marquis Hayes. McBride’s deal should be worth roughly $6.3 million. He was initially expected to play a minor role early in his rookie season based on having Zach Ertz ahead of him on the depth chart. However, the temporary loss of DeAndre Hopkins may force Arizona to roll out more packages with multiple tight ends to open the year. If that is the case, McBride could be a viable streaming option.

Cardinals selected Oklahoma OG Marquis Hayes with the No. 257 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Hayes (6’5/318) was a three-year starter at Oklahoma who earned second-team all-Big 12 honors in 2021. He came to Norman as a tackle and is built like one, but his game is all guard. Hayes is a mauler who throws his weight around and wins reps by washing his length over opponents. He’s almost too tall for his playing style, however, with a tendency to bend at the waist, lose the leverage game, and get shoved backward. Hayes’ unsteady base can also be used against him on counter moves. Hayes is a decent athlete with no standout traits – he tested in the 64th-percentile during pre-draft testing. He’s a size/power prospect who has some kinks to work out.

Oklahoma redshirt junior OL Marquis Hayes Jr. will return to school in 2021.
Hayes Jr. (6'5/315) has been a fixture on the interior line for the Sooners for the last two years, and now will be returning for one more year. The redshirt junior played 738 snaps this season and was called for only two penalties. He could use another year of seasoning, as PFF College only gives him a 70.5 overall grade and he would likely be looked at as a late round selection. This is excellent news from the Oklahoma perspective.

Rivals recruiting analyst Josh Helmholdt wrote that three-star 2017 G Marquis Hayes possesses a “legitimately rare and devastating initial punch.”
Helmholdt tabbed Hayes as a prospect who could outperform his ranking at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge in Atlanta. The 6-foot-5, 315-pounder has already proven that he can excel in event and drill settings, walking away with OL MVP honors from the Rivals Camp Series regional in Kansas City earlier this offseason. Helmholdt believes that “if he can keep his pad level low and stay mindful of technique, he should have great success in Atlanta.”

Three-star 2017 G Marquis Hayes indicated that Oklahoma and Michigan State have both come calling since he won offensive line MVP honors at the Rivals Camp Series regional in Kansas City.
Hayes was receiving little interest prior to blowing up at his RCS regional. Now, the 6-foot-5, 315-pounder is the belle of the ball. “After the camp I saw a lot of stuff change and powerhouses coming in like Oklahoma and Michigan State – schools that had never contacted me before,” Hayes said. He feels like he is beginning to forge a bond with the Sooners, saying that “we talk on a daily basis on Twitter.” He could potentially visit them over the next two months. Hayes plans on taking his official visits before making a commitment in the autumn or early winter.

Rivals recruiting director Mike Farrell tabbed four-star G Marquis Hayes as the prospect who most improved his stock at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge.
Hayes entered the spring circuit without much hype, but has made a name for himself in multiple settings. He has risen to No. 190 on the latest edition of Rivals’ rankings. He also earned an extra star to his name in the updated rankings, due to a surprising level of quickness and an initial punch that is already earning accolades as “devastating.” Farrell noted that the 6-foot-5, 315-pound Missouri native “would be a 40-offer kid if he played in the Southeast.”

Oklahoma received a verbal commitment from four-star G Marquis Hayes.
“It just felt like to me that this is a big opportunity and I couldn’t waste this opportunity and let it pass me,” Hayes said of his offer from Oklahoma, “so I had to take it while I can.” The 6-foot-5, 315-pounder indicated to Rivals that Sooners OL coach Bill Bedenbaugh told him that he has the potential to develop into an “elite offensive guard.” Hayes ranks as Rivals’ No. 190 overall prospect for the 2017 cycle. His work during the spring camp circuit was so impressive that the outlet upgraded him from three to four stars when they released their summer rankings.

Three-star 2017 G Marquis Hayes was named the Rivals Camp Series offensive line MVP for the regional in Kansas City.
Recruiting analyst Rob Cassidy wrote that Hayes “won nearly every rep he took and did so in dominant fashion on most occasions,” adding that the 6-foot-5, 315-pounder out of Maryland Heights “has incredible lower body strength and has been well-coached when it comes to arm extension.” The three-star recruit entered the RCS with almost no fanfare. He exited with an invite to the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge. Not too shabby. Missouri, Illinois, Iowa State and Minnesota have made him offers, but he will probably see more interested parties knocking on his door after this fine performance.
