    Raiders fired OC Luke Getsy.
Already on the hot seat, Getsy was fired after a fiasco of a loss to the Bengals on Sunday, Getsy’s Bears track record suggested he was a poor hire all along in Vegas, though the team’s severe talent deficiencies make it unclear what he could have really done differently. He was still stuffing the stat sheet for Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers. Coach Antonio Pierce undoubtedly wants a greater run-game commitment, but that is easier said than done with Alexander Mattison and Zamir White. Perhaps 40-year-old Getsy will reunite with Matt LaFleur in Green Bay. As for the Raiders, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports passing-game coordinator Scott Turner could be the next man up as play-caller.

Raiders HC Antonio Pierce said the offensive play-calling “has to get better,” but that he is comfortable with OC Luke Getsy calling plays.
Getsy’s questionable play-calling while with the Bears led to his dismissal after the 2023 season. It’s no surprise to see him struggling with the Raiders’ and their less-talented roster and assortment of quarterbacks. The Raiders rank 26th in the league in points per game (18.0) and have scored 20 or more points in just one of their last four games. They also rank dead last in EPA per play (-0.190) and are 24th in offensive success rate. There’s no telling how long Getsy’s leash could be at this point, but with half the season still to go, a change could be in order for the 2-6 Raiders, who will face the Bengals in Week 9.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Raiders hired former Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
The hiring has been reported for a few days, but it now appears to be official. After Kliff Kingsbury took himself out of the running for the job, Getsy immediately emerged as the favorite. Getsy served as the offensive coordinator in Chicago for two seasons before being fired at the end of this year. Under Getsy in 2023, the Bears finished the year 24th in EPA per dropback and ninth in EPA per rush attempt. That may need to change with an offense built around Davante Adams. However, Getsy also struggled to get the most out of Justin Fields, often limiting him as a rusher, so this hiring would likely take the Raiders out of the running as a trade partner with the Bears for Fields.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reports the Raiders are “working on a deal to hire ex-Bears OC Luke Getsy as their new offensive coordinator.”
The Raiders recently had Kliff Kingsbury tabbed as their next offensive coordinator, but Kingsbury took himself out of the running late in the process. The move was a bit of a shocker as his hiring seemed to be a foregone conclusion. Now they will turn their attention to Getsy, who served as the offensive coordinator in Chicago for two seasons. He was fired at the end of the 2023 season. Getsy failed to get the most out of Justin Fields in 2023 and often seemed to forget just how electric his quarterback was on the ground. The Bears finished the year 24th in EPA per dropback and ninth in EPA per rush attempt. While not a disastrous hire, bringing in Getsy as the start of a new chapter for the Raiders is a bit uninspiring.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports the Patriots plan to interview former Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy for the team’s offensive coordinator vacancy.
Getsy was let go by the Bears after two seasons as the team’s offensive coordinator. The Bears offense ranked 27th in the NFL in passing yards per game in 2023, but second in rushing yards per game. Getsy’s success on the ground with Justin Fields and the Bears backfield has not gone unnoticed as he has already interviewed with the Raiders and now will meet with the Patriots. The Patriots are a candidate to draft a quarterback, while they also have Rhamondre Stevenson leading a strong ground game. Getsy would most likely work with a rookie quarterback under rookie head coach Jerod Mayo if he fills the Patriots’ offensive coordinator vacancy.

Raiders will interview former Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy for the team’s offensive coordinator vacancy.
Getsy, fired by the Bears after two seasons as OC, had served as Green Bay’s quarterbacks coach and is highly respected in league circles. Under Getsy, the Bears had one of the most productive rushing attacks — likely a selling point for tough-nosed Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce.

Bears fired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy.
The Bears are reportedly keeping head coach Matt Eberflus on board but will now need to fill open OC and defensive coordinator positions. The team is likely to use the first overall pick in the NFL Draft on a quarterback, moving on from a disappointing three years of Justin Fields under center. Under Getsy, Fields regressed as a passer in 2023 and Chicago’s offense was 23rd in EPA per play. Getsy will probably land with another team this offseason as a positional coach after his poor showing with the Bears. Getsy, a friend of Aaron Rodgers, could end up with the Jets.

When asked about the offensive line on Friday, Bears OC Luke Getsy told reporters “we’re still a ways away for a lot of positions, to be honest with you, and that’s one of them.”
Getsy went on, “We’ve flipped guys from right to left up front and we’re trying to see whatever combination makes the most sense and which guys are the most flexible for us. So we’ve got a lot of information still to find out.” The biggest story on the Bears’ offensive line has been 2021 second-round pick Teven Jenkins, who missed his seventh consecutive practice on Friday. Stunningly, left tackle—which Jenkins was supposed to hold down—appears to be the Bears’ lone bright spot up front. Fifth-round rookie Braxton Jones has handled every first team snap at left tackle for the last three practices and the Athletic’s Kevin Fishbain and Adam Jahns report that the rookie has “more than held his own.” The problem is that other positions on the line seem to be truly up in the air with presumed starting C Lucas Patrick dealing with an injury, and a rotation at right guard and right tackle. And as Gestsy alluded to, the Bears also have major questions at wide receiver and appear to be moving to a committee at running back. It’s not exactly the most stable situation in which to develop second-year quarterback Justin Fields.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the Bears hired Packers QBs coach Luke Getsy for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
This deal has been all but done for a few days. Getsy was reportedly offered the gig two days ago and anything since then has likely been paperwork. Many in NFL circles regard Getsy as a soon-to-be head coach and he even earned an interview for the Broncos’ head-coaching vacancy. Getsy oversaw Aaron Rodgers’ massive resurgence in the past two years and will be tasked with working his magic on Justin Fields. The Bears’ rookie made some big plays in his first year but was ultimately buried by his mistakes. If Fields shows signs of improvement in his second year, Getsy will get his shot to be a head coach in the near future.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Bears are expected name Packers QBs coach/passing game coordinator Luke Getsy as their next offensive coordinator “soon.”
With the Packers promoting offensive line coach Adam Stenavich to offensive coordinator, all that’s left for Getsy is paperwork. Green Bay likely gave Stenavich the gig knowing Getsy was already gone. The Bears inked Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus as their head coach but the team still needs someone to course-correct Justin Fields, who struggled as a rookie. After ushering in the resurgence of Aaron Rodgers, Getsy is a good bet to help Fields exceed expectations in his second season.
