Tennessee junior DT LaTrell Bumphus may be available for Saturday’s game vs. UAB after having missed the Volunteers’ last two games with a hamstring injury.
Bumphus (6'3/273) has been practicing the last two weeks, but he’s been a limited participant according to GoVols247 writer Patrick Brown. The junior defensive tackle would five Tennessee additional depth up front if he’s able to play, but it isn’t as if the Volunteers are operating with a bare cupboard at defensive tackle. All six players from last weekend’s two deep are available, including starters Aubrey Solomon, Greg Emerson and Darel Middleton.

Tennessee signed four-star 2017 DE LaTrell Bumphus.
Bumphus -- a native of Savannah, Tennessee -- initially threw his lot in with the Volunteers this past June. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder ranks as Rivals’ No. 14 weakside defensive end prospect in the 2017 cycle. Over at ESPN, he slots in at No. 263 on the 2017 master list. The latter outlet notes that Bumphus has untapped potential as a tight end should Tennessee opt to shift him off of the defensive side of the ball at some point in his collegiate career.
