Kyle Boller will undergo arthroscopic surgery this week on his left (non-throwing) shoulder.
He won’t miss mini-camp. Boller, who will be Baltimore’s starting QB next season, just saw his fantasy prospects rise with the signing of T.O. He’s probably not ready to be a fantasy starter, but should put up solid production.

  • LAC Quarterback
Kyle Boller leads AFC QBs in rushing with 74 yards and a TD.
If you’re looking for upside with Boller, here it is.
  • LAC Quarterback
Kyle Boller pronounced his surgically repaired left (non-throwing) shoulder healthy and began throwing again.
Boller is working out in Baltimore with Travis Taylor, his #1 wide receiver. Those two plus Frank Sanders, Randy Hymes, Javin Hunter and a rookie to be named later make up the worst passing attack in the league on paper.
  • LAC Quarterback
Kyle Boller is displaying a newfound confidence in the huddle as the Baltimore QB in his second offseason.
We only mention this to bring up our real Kyle Boller news: that he’s dating Tara “two movies away from soft-core” Reid. As any Patriots fan will tell you, Reid was a crucial factor in the Patriots downfall after Super Bowl XXXVI. Beware.

The Baltimore Sun suggests that Kyle Boller needs to improve this preseason to keep his hold on the starting job.
''The Ravens have four preseason games to play, enough time for Boller to distinguish himself as starter. If he doesn’t ...’' We can’t imagine Boller not getting an extended chance this regular season. But the Ravens are in win-now mode and can’t wait forever for him to develop.
  • LAC Quarterback
Kyle Boller completed 5-of-9 passes for 57 yards and an interception in his preseason opener.
He threw a bone-headed interception to former teammate Ed Hartwell on his first pass. The offense scored three points in Boller’s three possessions. His only consolation? Anthony Wright was far worse.
  • LAC Quarterback
Kyle Boller turned the ball over three times in less than one half of action Saturday.
Boller threw two terrible interceptions, and lost a fumble. He finished with a TD drive, completed 10-of-15 passes for 85 yards, one score and the three turnovers. ''It’s probably my worst quarter-and-a-half in the NFL,’' Boller said. He’s struggled in both preseason games.
  • LAC Quarterback
Free agent Kyle Boller recently paid a visit to the Raiders.
Boller, who’s showed he can be competitive in (very) short stretches and get the ball downfield, would be a slight upgrade over Oakland’s current backups. The Raiders may be deciding between signing him and Charlie Frye.

Beat writer Steve Corkran expects Kyle Boller to start this week before giving way to Carson Palmer after the bye.
Others are speculating that the Raiders will get Palmer in there this Sunday, but that seems really fast. Even if Palmer is familiar with what the Raiders are currently running, he didn’t even participate in a training camp this year. Giving Palmer the bye week to get his body and mind up to speed makes the most sense. Boller, a third-string kind of talent, won’t be a fantasy option against the Chiefs.

Coach Hue Jackson was noncommittal Tuesday when asked if Carson Palmer or Kyle Boller would start against the Chiefs if Week 7.
“You think I’m gonna tell you that?” asked Jackson. “We’ll see as we continue to move through the week ... I’m not going to let the cat out of the bag.” Beat writers consider Boller the favorite, allowing Palmer to use the bye week to get up to speed in Oakland. Considering Jackson’s aggressive philosophy, however, we wouldn’t be surprised in the least if Palmer draws the start. The Raiders are going to lean on the ground attack regardless.
