Broncos signed LB Kevin Alexander and S Kyle McCarthy off the practice squad.
The Broncos are thin at linebacker with Robert Ayers and Wesley Woodyard both ruled out. Brian Dawkins will also be sidelined for the team’s Week 6 matchup against the Jets. RB Andre Brown was waived to open up one roster spot, and another move is expected sometime Saturday.

    Broncos waived OLB Kevin Alexander.
He makes room for CB Chevis Jackson. A defensive end at Clemson, Alexander recorded four tackles in nine appearances at linebacker.

Recently released Broncos LB Kevin Alexander was arrested Monday morning on misdemeanor assault and battery charges.
The charges stem from a domestic incident between Alexander and his girlfriend that took place Sunday night. Alexander was let go two hours after the arrest in favor of CB Chevis Jackson. The team was reportedly aware of the arrest, but Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth called the release “a football decision.” News of the arrest won’t help Alexander’s chances of finding another job in the NFL.

Free agent LB Kevin Alexander has had domestic violence charges against him dismissed in an Aurora City (CO) court.
The woman who accused Alexander of striking her refused to cooperate with police. Alexander was waived by Denver on the same day charges were filed last December, and failed to resurface. Though being cleared helps his outlook, the undrafted rookie wasn’t a big-time prospect to begin with.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #90
Broncos OLB Robert Ayers was kept out of first-team reps for a second straight day Saturday.
Former first-round bust Jarvis Moss and undrafted rookie Kevin Alexander are working with the first team in what Josh McDaniels calls a coach’s decision. “I’m not going to talk about it,” McDaniels said. This looks like a wake-up call for last year’s first-rounder, who failed to record even one sack in 2009.

Updating a previous item, Jarvis Moss will have to compete with Jason Hunter, Baraka Atkins, and rookie Kevin Alexander to win the weakside outside linebacker job.
“There’s a load of them over there, and really we’re just going to let those guys compete and if one of them deserves to play 65 plays, we’ll let them do that,” coach Josh McDaniels said. “If we feel like we can get a good 30 plays out of a couple of them, then we might rotate them.”
  • FA Linebacker #51
With the release of Akin Ayodele, Broncos LB Mario Haggan will move back to inside linebacker.
There has been a ton of shuffling among the Broncos’ linebackers, but Haggan is much better suited to play on the inside. Jarvis Moss will compete with Jason Hunter, Baraka Atkins, and rookie Kevin Alexander to start opposite Robert Ayers now that Haggan has jumped back inside.
  • MIN Guard #72
Broncos waived OG Seth Olsen, LB Kevin Alexander, TE Riar Geer, DB Kyle McCarthy, LB Worrell Williams, DL Jeff Stehle, and WR Britt Davis.
Olsen entered the offseason as the favorite to start at left guard, but the Broncos picked up Zane Beadles in the second-round of the draft. It’s still a surprise that he didn’t even make the team. Williams is the brother of inside linebacker D.J.
