The Raiders are beginning to use the shotgun formation more often.
Despite Norv Turner’s reputation, the Raiders are fast becoming a pass-first team. That should be good news for Collins owners in the long run.
  • IND Quarterback
The Raiders are calling Kerry Collins’ visit to the team an “exploratory visit.”
Publicly, the team still sees they want Collins as a backup. Privately, they must know it’s either Collins or Gannon. No word on if Collins will work out today.
  • IND Quarterback
Kerry Collins restructured his contract, lowering his base salary from $4.7 million in 2005 to $1.2 million.
The Raiders are still barely under the salary cap. They will have to make a few more moves if they want to franchise Jerry Porter or Charles Woodson.
  • IND Quarterback
Randy Moss said Kerry Collins is a better overall quarterback than Daunte Culpepper.
''When it comes to athleticism, Daunte has Kerry beat by a large margin,’' Moss said. ''But Kerry has pocket presence and knows how to read defenses. So Kerry has a slight step over Daunte.’'
  • IND Quarterback
Kerry Collins was walking with a perceptible limp in Raiders camp Tuesday.
''I’m just getting old,’' Collins laughed. ''It’s fine. I get a little swelling in there from time to time.’' Since he hasn’t missed any practices, it’s not something to worry about. Although it could give fantasy owners nightmares about Marques Tuiasosopo.
  • IND Quarterback
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones backed off statements about the team’s interest in Kerry Collins.
Jones says the team is committed to Quincy Carter. Don’t rule Collins quite yet if he’d be interested in starting for a few seasons while Drew Henson got ready.
  • IND Quarterback
The Ravens and the 49ers have gone public saying they don’t intend to pursue Kerry Collins.
Both were mentioned as a possibilities because of young QBs. We see Oakland and Dallas as better possibilities.
  • IND Quarterback
Kerry Collins reiterated his stance to the Giants that he will not accept a pay cut for next season.
Newsday is reporting that GM Ernie Accorsi told Collins that he will be released within the week. Accorsi denies this, but it doesn’t matter. There isn’t a chance that the Giants could afford his $7 million salary. We’re sure Michael Strahan and Ike Hilliard are pumped about the news.
  • IND Quarterback
The Cardinals have denied interest in FA QB Kerry Collins.
That makes four teams who have denied interest, while zero have admitted it.
  • IND Quarterback
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones acknowledged the team has interest in QB Kerry Collins.
We like Quincy Carter, but Collins would make the Cowboys a better team right away. Collins played well under Dallas offensive coordinator Sean Payton while he was in New York. This move makes a lot of sense. The Raiders appear to be the other team most interested.
