Eagles did not exercise OG Kenyon Green’s fifth-year team option for 2026.
Philly acquired Green via trade this offseason. The former No. 15 overall pick was a disaster in Houston, forcing the Texans to trade him for pennies on the dollar. The Eagles turned around Mekhi Becton’s career last year after he struggled with the Jets. They could work the same magic on Green, but his fifth-year option was never a consideration. Green is the favorite to replace Becton at right guard in 2025.
  • PHI Guard #76
Eagles acquired OG Kenyon Green and a fifth-round pick from the Texans in exchange for S C.J. Gardner-Johnson and a sixth-round pick.
Both picks are from the 2026 NFL Draft. The Eagles are getting younger in the secondary and CJGJ was a potential cut candidate. Instead, Garnder-Johnson finds a home with a contending AFC team and the Eagles land some extra offensive line depth plus a slight draft capital upgrade. Green was a first-round pick in 2022 but hasn’t panned out with the Texans, receiving disastrous blocking grades from Pro Football Focus in both of his full seasons. The Eagles, however, made the most of a similar situation last year by installing former Jets tackle Mekhi Becton at right guard. Becton played well in the role and is likely headed for a big contract on the open market. Green should get a shot at the starting right guard job in Philly.
  • HOU Guard #76
The Houston Chronicle’s Jon Alexander reports the Texans are not expected to pick up G Kenyon Green’s fifth-year option.
Green was disastrous in pass blocking early in the season. He was so mistrusted by the coaching staff that after returning from a shoulder injury in December, Green never saw another rep as a starter. Green has full-season PFF grades of 37.7 (2022) and 38.6 (2024) buttressing a lost season due to knee surgery and is not a lock to make the Texans 53-man roster in 2025.
  • HOU Guard #76
Texans activated OG Kenyon Green (shoulder) off injured reserve.
Green has been on IR with a shoulder injury since early November. He had struggled in both pass blocking and run blocking before the injury, and will likely rejoin a Houston offensive line in Week 16 graded by Pro Football Focus as the league’s fifth worst run blocking unit and the 11th worst pass blocking unit.
  • HOU Linebacker #48
Texans designated LB Christian Harris (knee) for return from injured reserve.
In addition to Harris, the Texans also opened the 21-day return window for offensive guard Kenyon Green. With linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair suspended for the team’s next three games, Harris should be tasked with a bigger role once he returns to action. The third-year linebacker has not played a regular season snap, but tallied a career-high 101 tackles and two sacks last season.
  • HOU Guard #76
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Texans OG Kenyon Green is likely to miss the rest of the season after suffering a dislocated shoulder on Thursday night against the Jets.
Green exited in the first half of Thursday’s loss to the Jets and did not return to the field. The third-year guard has played on 561 snaps this season but has struggled mightily. He’s allowed five sacks on 27 pressures over nine games. There could be some addition by subtraction in play here, with Kendrick Green most likely to fill in at left guard moving forward.
  • HOU Guard #76
Aaron Wilson reports Kenyon Green (shoulder) dislocated his shoulder and is out “indefinitely.”
Sounds like an IR stint is in the cards for the struggling third-year pro. Kendrick Green — yes, we know, it is confusing — replaced his fellow Green at left guard and figures to compete for the job along with Jarret Patterson as long as Ken(yon) Green is out.
  • HOU Guard #76
Kenyon Green has been ruled out for the remainder of Week 9 against the Jets.
Green picked up a shoulder injury in the first half and won’t be able to continue. Kendrick Green will handle his duties for the remainder of the contest.
  • HOU Guard #76
Kenyon Green is questionable to return in Week 9 against the Texans with a shoulder injury.
Green has struggled mightily but obviously hurts the Texans’ depth in the interior line. Kendrick Green has replaced him at guard.
  • PHI Guard #76
NBC Houston’s Aaron Wilson reports Texans G Kenyon Green underwent arthroscopic knee surgery but is expected to be ready for offseason workouts.
The 2022 first-round rookie guard played 823 snaps in his first year as a professional, starting 14 of his 15 active games. He reportedly underwent arthroscopic knee surgery following the season but is expected to make a full recovery in time for offseason workouts. Green should reclaim the starting left guard position for the rebuilding Texans once healthy.
